Hahahaha, just what I was thinking. The 460's are the kings of one tire fires, but struggle getting up steep hills

they are not hating, just speaking the truth guy, one thing about a 4.9 is lack of horsepower. you give up speed for reliability and as good as gas mpgs as you can get in a brick on wheels, me myself I don't need nor want a 460 if I am spending that much cash I am putting diesel in the tank.

yeah a 302 is faster, but you put loads on it like I do regularly and my grandpa did before I did, and they wear out a lot faster. just posted recently about my experiences the 302 was fresh to about 80 thousand, now at 225 thousand it just plain sucks.

anyway back to the point, I don't need my truck to go fast somebody wants to race that is what I have my Yamaha r1 for, more horsepower than my 4.9 and only weighs about 400 pounds. runs 10.2 to 10.7 in the quarter stock and slams into the speed limiter at 186 mph mine is a far cry from stock too, thinking about adding a turbo or nitrous in the near future

This thread keeps getting better and better

I have had 4.9s, 302, 351Ws, 351M, 400M, 429, 460, 6.9, 7.3, 7.3 Turbo, 7.3 PSD, 6.0
and the 4.9 has got to be the slowest, most underpowered engine in any of the truck I have owned. hell, it even was a reg cab long box w 4.10s and a stick
