how long do the OEM Nipple Cup Seals Last?

Hello everyone. I've got my wife's '05 F-350 6.0 opened up for an apparent dummy plug leak and standpipe replacement. I've ordered new nipple cup rings and top injector seals. I don't really want to change/mess with them if they aren't leaking.

Do the nipple cup o-rings and top injector o-rings all wear out at a certain mileage?? I'd hate to make things worse by doing the "preventative maintenance" then just have more troubles due to inferior plastics in the replacements...

It's just one of them things that last until they fail. Unfortunately, when one fails it can leave you stranded. There's no specific mileage where they expire. If you have it open already, it's not that expensive, even with the tool.

Is there any specific concerns you have about doing this? Difficulty, cost, etc.

How many miles on truck now?

My $.02... I believe the factory OEM seals are far better than what Alliant or a couple other sources sell for replacement oil rail o-rings.

Hello. Her truck has 110,000 miles or 190,000 km on it. Never pulled a trailer, never chipped- only carried a camper sometimes.

Yeah, that's what I was picking up from reading about the aftermarket o-rings. I'll redo the pressure test through the icp and only repair what leaks. Nothing more.

Thanks! Do your figure 110,000 miles is too early for the nipple rings to go bad?

110,000 is too early to mess with unless you have an issue IMO.

I can only speak from MY Experience with my truck...I HAD to replace mine at 270K miles. "if your in there" its $85 for tool and o-rings only an additional 15mins of time (assuming rails are already off).

Sending my truck to a shop for an unrelated problem so I was looking back at the work I have done over last 2 years so they can have some history. Looking it all over and with hind site being 20/20 it probably was the original problem that sent me through 4 injectors and a couple of re-ring jobs over the last 50k.
