Radiator hose help on 302 in F-1 with aluminum radiator

I have a 302 in a 52 F-1 with a aluminum radiator.
I have two 302 thermostat housings, one which points forward at about a 45 degree angle and one that sticks straight up.
I want to use the straight housing and the hoses are 1 1/2" upper and 1 3/4" lower hose.

I haven't been successful finding auto store hoses to fit.
Each one just needs to be just a couple of 90 degree hoses.

I really don't want to use the flexible rubber hoses unless I have to.

I see Summit Racing has hoses with bushings that look pretty good but don't know how much bushing I would have to use to get down to the 1 1/2" size.

Has anyone use these types of hoses or suggest anything I might use that would look fairly good?
Thanks,
TractormanBill

I just had a similar problem. I have a ford 429 in my 51 ford F1. I needed a 90 degree hose with two inches on one end and 1 3/4" on the other end. the guy at the auto parts store let me in the back to look at the hoses. bring a ruler to mesure the outlets. I found a two inch ID hose with the 90 Degree bend and just used a small section of a 1 3/4" inside the two inch as a reducer like in the universal hose kits. works perfect. no leaks. just took a bit of hunting.

I ran into the same problem. I used a radiator that was for our trucks but with a chevy conversion (the only one I could find - rad outlets on different sides). I made wire patterns of the shapes I needed and labeled the outlet sizes on each end. Then I went to O'Reilly's and they let me wander their rad hose wall until I found some that would fit.

Just in case your rad is the same, mine has the upper on the drivers side and lower on the passenger side. The water neck on the manifold is the 45 degree style.

The hoses I used are Gates #22286 and 20957. I had to trim them a bit but the outlet sizes and shapes were correct.

Good luck with it.

I can help you (I think), but my albums are gone. I'll find the pics I was looking for and post in a few minutes.

I made patterns from wire coat hangars and my local O'Reilley's let me loose in the back until I came out with what I needed.

Gates hose reducers

I have a 49 Ford F-1 with a 5.0 with a Champion aluminum radiator
I used a Dayco hose # D71500 for the upper. For the lower I used a flex hose because I am running a Ford Explore 5.0 serpentine pulley set up Dayco # 81321 and cut about 1/2" off both ends

Hose I.D. Reducers
Slip inside current Gates hose to reduce inside diameters, providing maximum coverage with minimum hose inventory. Make it possible to adjust inside diameters of larger hoses for emergency replacements.
• Quality rubber construction assures maximum dependability, no leakage. • Fits Green Stripe® straight or Green Stripe® Vulco-Flex® hoses. Caution: Recommended for coolant and air applications only.
