Should I buy a 06 f250 6.0
Hello need help to decide no or yes on a (06)crewmax 4Wd 6.0 it has 215000 miles no leaks very clean original owner is selling and said he has never had issues that it's been a reliable truck. I can get it for 10 or 10500 . Being the 6.0 I've been told to run don't buy that I will be putting money into it all the time. Should I Not Buy And Look For A 7.3 ?

There is quite a bit of information for people looking into buying a 6.0L. As stated by many people of this forum, 06 and 07 are less problematic than the late 03 to 05 models. But advice to you is to buy a scanguage from autozone if you dont have one already and scan the truck before buying. It may be a really good deal if everything checks out with your scan. If your trying to buy the truck based on what the owner says and price then your taking a shot in the dark. You should IMO check the 6.0L tech folder for valuable information on buying, owning, maintaining a 6.0L. As far as 7.3's go, from what I've heard they can be troublesome like the 6.0 can. I don't know honestly much about the 7.3 because I own a 6.0 and it's been an awesome truck with no issues. (knock on wood)

The 6.0L Power Stroke can be an awesome engine, but in order to do that it demands a level of care and maintenance that most truck owners are not willing to step up and perform. It isn't the right engine for everyone, but it will reward the right owner with thousands of miles of torque, black smoke and diesel clatter.

I own a 6.0L and the sommna beach has stranded me three times. Once when the starter motor literally FELL OUT of the engine and once with a hot no-start and once when the IPR screen blew out. The engine stalled going down a windy hill at 50mph! That was fun. Luckily I have 100 mile free towing so that didn't cost me anything. The starter motor falling out was weird, but not unheard of (do a search). A little blue Loctite on new bolts and a new starter and that took care of that. The others are common problems with the 05-07 6.0L. I had the IPR, Stand Pipe and dummy plugs upgraded and the STC fitting replaced with the one piece upgrade. I also had several other things done on the engine while in that deep but the common problems are covered. Do I hate the 6.0? HELL NO. I've owned an early 7.3 and this engine will tow circles around it, and this truck overall is far more comfy and rides far better than the early model Super Duty's. Now that I've got the typical snafu's taken care of, I expect a few hundred thousand more miles out of my truck.

Also keep in mind where you will be parking it. I cant take my 6.0 to work when the temps are -15 or colder because I have no place to plug her in. She starts at -20 with -45 wind chills (though I don't think metal or fluid is affected by wind chill) no problem with the block hater going.
