First Tow with 6.2

First Tow with 6.2
I purchased a used 2011 6.2 last November. Traded in a 2008 V10. Wanted a crew cab. I was a little concerned if I would notice a huge difference over the V10 pulling our 10K fiver.
I couldn't be happier. The difference was almost unnoticeable. Does it pull the same as the V10? No not quite but the transmission seems to do a better job managing the weight. I locked out 6th and let it do what it wanted. Cruised along at 65. 80% of the time it stayed in 5th. 4th a bit and 3rd @ 3-3500 RPMs pulling some 6% grades at 55mph.
A final comment. LOVE THE SOUND OF A V8 WORKING!!!

Just pulled with mine over the weekend (2012 F-350 6.2L, 4.30) down to the Hatfield McCoy trails in W. Va. so we encountered some pretty good hills down there.
Pulling about 8,000 pounds and I was totally impressed (previously towed with my 2002 5.4L F-250, 4.11). I have to say what I appreciated even more than the pulling power was the engine braking while decelerating!! The TBC gain set at 5.5 and it pulled almost flawlessly!!!
The jury is still out on the Sway Control (which, until I opened the manual, I didn't even know such a thing existed!!) which does seem to help reduce sway somewhat but I think I expected more from it.
We bumped up to a Crew Cab because my kids are adult-sized now and I can't even tell you how nice it was in the CC over the Supercab!!

I've been to a few Ohio meets with my 6.2 where we've pulled some pretty significant weights/grades and also believe the newer 3v V10 mated to the 6spd auto would've been a killer combo for Ford. The 6.2 is no slouch, but it could use a tiny bit more bottom end. Once you get to the sweet spot though, that thing SCREAMS... Mike's got video of it in his Ohio meet threads, you can hear that thing motoring hard from inside the cab.
