What a difference a valve cover can make!

I bought the truck with this chrome valve cover, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. I've always hated it. Always.

This is a picture the previous seller sent me before I bought it.

I picked these two valve covers. I actually ended up using the dirty one on the right.

I agree. Looks much better now. That's the same reason I painted my aluminum intake old ford blue.

Now you just have to look at an orange master cylinder on that pretty black firewall. Haha. I tried painting mine but the brake fluid ate it off after a few months.

Go for 11x.... get a snorkel for that air cleaner!

Attaboy Trozei. The devil is in the details.

I'm pulling the engine in August and giving it a whole new detail. New inner fender panels, new radiator support, full reseal and repaint on the engine with lots of performance goodies. Intake, headers, distributor, cylinder head, bigger valves, carburetor, and then a Wilwood master cylinder to pretty up the firewall and a Redhead with new tie rods to top it all off. I'm not going to worry about a snorkel because by that time I'll either have an open breather or a cold air intake routed down at the bottom of the radiator on the non-exhaust side.

I'm a stickler for details, so the colour scheme will be all pretty and all the wiring, hosing, and piping will be tucked neatly.

Hey do you know the part number for the oil filler/breather? Mine is this ugly, tall, chrome one.
Agreed it looks a lot better. in old ford blue.
My engine will hopefully be looking better in the not-to-distant future (hope it runs a lot better as well). Repainting the valve cover was one of my first clean-up tasks under the hood. Got a set of dorman efi exhaust manifolds painted grey nearly ready to go on as well.
Would like to have your air-breather as well (:

Really does make it look better. Just proves you don't need all that fancy shiny chrome to look great.

Looking good man.

My 300 will be going through a similar pull, clean, and seal even soon.
Be sure to do the 3G alternator upgrade while you are at it, if you haven't already. It makes a world of difference.

I've actually already painted the air cleaner but I mounted it a couple months ago, so it looks comparatively worse.

The painted cover really highlights how terrible the rest of the engine paint is, haha. The truck sat for 16 years so all the gaskets went. Oil dripping everywhere on the engine. The previous owner just spray bombed over the old paint and the old grease so it looks... questionable.
