Hissing sound HELP

Hissing sound HELP
OK need help here.
On colder days right after start up and the truck goes into high idle it starts to hiss real loud, sounds like pressure building up and then escaping out of some where, sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine. If I touch the throttle peddle it stops. When driving you hear it build up then stop, Build up then stop, thought it could be waist gate BUT If I hold the RPM just over 1250 to 1300 it just stays hissing as I drive down the road.
Power seems down even tho I have a chip.
WHAT THE HECK IS THIS

Only started doing this about 3 months ago just after I had the Trans rebuilt. and it is lacking power even now the weather is worming up. also has a fast puff puff puff sound when accelerating or under load. just sounds exhaust is restricted all the time and leaking out where ever it can. thought about the EBPV looking to dis able it.

While many delete this... those in the North may regret it. This really helps with warming the truck up faster. If you ever look into engine braking, you need the EBPV for this.
I'm a big fan of repairing what's in there, rather than scrapping a properly-engineered feature.

This is the fourth post I've seen since the temperatures dropped. I too am having this problem and will be on it tonight here in Michigan.
I have read and have been told by knowledgeable people that I have to pull and clean my EBPV tube and gingerly my sensor.
The best procedural video I have found is on you tube. Just go to youtube.com and type in ebpv and you'll find it.
Pretty much a half hour procedure (6 pack for me) and costs nothing unless you can't remedy the situation with the cleaning. At that point, the 90 dollar sensor.
Just check it out and post your success or failures and finds.
Seems like every year when the weather breaks bad it's cold starts, glow plugs, GPR or ebpv.
In retrospect I should have done this procedure before I couldn't feel my hands..........just sayin

Sorry Big D,
Forgot to add.......If time doesn't permit immediate repair, you can flip the metal bail on the sensor connection on your turbo pedastel and unplug the solenoid. This will disable the ebpv and let you run without it harmlessly.
However, I agree with Rich. If you want cab heat, fix the problem as discussed. I did the unplug thing for 2 days and froze my ars off. Fixing mine!!! Not into wearing nylons!

Thanks Hydro,
I do notice it stops once the truck is warmed up, being my first diesel I wasn't sure that was normal and I was concerned that if I continued to drive and push acceleration that I could damage something if it was not a normal thing to occur.
Now to replace my camshaft sensor so it will quit dying on me while I drive, lol

OK here is what has been going on with my truck. yes the EBPV hiss was the start of the problems or a symptom. on getting it checked out took them a week to find it the tube going up to the sensor was rusted out and crumbled as soon as they touched it. well $700 later all fixed ran great for about a month then started to make other noises a whine sort of like a second turbo and a metallic buzzing sound and the power was slowly dropping off then puffing blue smoke when pulling away from a stop she had a hard time pulling our trailer by the end of the summer. TURBO dieing. I replaced the turbo took the old one apart the main shaft had 1/2 inch end play and a 1/4 inch side play the compressor wheel blades were worn to about half the size, how this thing hadn't grenaded I have no idea. latest, She blew off one of the intake boots got it together getting new ones waiting for a warm day to replace them. Disabled the EBPV just disconnected the actuator rod seems to warm up ok so far. I'm not driving long distances so not worried about it. Will see when it gets really cold.

So I noticed on cold days during start-up/warm-up that my exhaust sounds different. Kind of like the hissing sound as described above but it is actually coming out of the exhaust pipe. Based on the replies above, can I assume that is just my EBPV doing its job? It goes away once warmed up.
