1356 Tcase chain

I've got the tcase tore apart and getting ready to buy parts. To me the chain looks stretch but wanted a 2nd opinion before I spent the extra money.

I agree with Gator. I got a new chain with my full rebuild kit I think for $80? Not quite sure.

I kind of wish it was a gear T-case, but that requires modifications I don't wish to go through for a little more beef.

The guys said it, you already are there, no need to save a few bucks, cheaping out might become expensive later down the road, and Fordman, your logic is right, the chain is plenty strong already and usually the T-case sees little use, no need to spend extra time and resources on that gear mod.

There is a pump modification you should consider while you're in there Mike, it's a pump retainer mod to prevent the pump from spinning: Rebuild your own transfer case. BW1356 - FSB Forums

Definately go with pump mod, I had one spin on me, yanked the sump loose and took out a shift fork as well. Fortunately it let go near my driveway and I had a couple of spares for parts.
