Ring and Pinion

Am I crazy to try to change a ring and pinion by myself. I have a good knowledge and all the tools nessacary to do it just no experience. It looks easy on youtube. Its a front axle and would only spin in the bad newengland weather.

Thanks.

Cool I have to change pinion seal any way. Any gear set harder or easier than the other. Looking at a set on rock auto usa standard.

I would go with Ford Racing gears. From the reading I've done, they are high quality and consistent.

No need to be scared of it. I used USA standard gears on my truck this spring. First time I've ever used them, and it will probably be the last. I haven't had any problems with the set since the install, but they were a bear to get in there. The ring fit very tight on the carrier. I have always put the pinion in the freezer overnight and been able to drop the inner bearing on with no press, not with the USA Standards. Never had an issue with the Richmond gears I've used in the past.
