AGSF32FM - SP-432
Alright, I’ve read all that I care to read about spark plug gapping with respect to Platinum, Standard and Fine Wire plugs. I have an 1998 Ranger with a 3.0L engine and I guess the original specified plugs have now have been replaced with a newer fine wire plug labeled AGSF32FM, or SP-432.
I ordered and have received six new AGSF32FM plugs and they all seem to be gapped around .050+". I have read several posts on different Internet sites from different manufacturers that say to gap them from anywhere from .042” to .046”, to don't touch or move the gap on a fine wire plug.
Would some of you experienced professional members please care to comment? I have 147,500 miles on my Ranger and I replaced the plugs which I believe are Motorcraft Platinum at around 100,000. It’s starting to run ruff, as most of my driving is in extreme cold weather with a lot of time in four wheel drive idling to maintain nominal vehicle temperature. I would suspect that between actual driving time and idle running time, it’s closer to 200,000 miles in maintenance time.
Kind regards,
John from Alaska….
