It just don't look modified to me.
I am thinkin it was built to haul ore or bullion. A ton or two on pallets
would be hard to steal with a half dozen guys shooting at you. Plus
a few more back up crews as well.

The back of the cab is plywood with a thin metal sheet on the outside. Look around the left side of the rear window. That's plywood delaminating. And notice all the missing bondo where they made the new roof line.
I have no idea what they used it for, but it is definitely a chop job.

I showed the gf this truck, told her how kick *** it was and how rare it was, she asked if you got it would you use it ? I said i sure would, she looks at me and say buy the damn thing and ill drive ur black pickup, now dnt get me wrong her tellin me too buy it is cool, but way over priced for me if it was $1,500 id really think about it but it would kill me if i payed more then that lol

Cody, you'd also have to consider what it would cost to drive that beast. I'd bet it would get 5 mpg, at best.
It sure would be an awesome truck to restore. Unlike a M-H restoration, which really has to be done correctly and back to original condition, this truck could be restored to look nice but wouldn't have anything to compare it to so there really isn't a correct way to restore it. It sure would be a truck to talk about at any meet.

The back was molded on an angle sweeping forward, similar to the back of the car that panelman posted
Also, if you look at the 'cap' on the back walls, you can see some random spot welds and the 'lashing hooks' seem to be installed with some pretty primitive welding.
