If you plan on running bolt on long tube headers for that chassis, do not use a 205 unless you also backdate to a 70's front axle. Pinion, and transfer case output location changed by 4" 79 to 80, and a 79 and older runs the front driveshaft on the inside of the exhaust, 80 and newer the driveshaft is on the outside. With a 205 you end up with the driveshaft taking up all the space under there and no room for headers designed for the chassis.
I abuse a 1345 in my 44 shod toy and have for the last 12 years. I have never had an issue. The low range is much better, and they shift like butter compared to a 205. My 205 does not cooperate nicely.
