Couple concerns with my purchase
Hello, bought a used 2011 F250 and really like the truck and there is no comparison when towing the trailer.
Couple observations I'm hoping the group can help me out with.
1.) I've noticed the truck doesn't shift smoothly from 3rd to 4th. Under light acceleration the RPMs climb, then drop slightly, then climb, and finally the truck shifts into 4th gear. It's almost like the truck wants to shift but doesn't. I believe a selenoid was replaced on the truck.
2.) From a dead stop, when pushing slightly on the gas pedal there is a slight hesitation or unresponsiveness with the truck wanting to proceed forward.
I know there are a lot of electronics on this truck so wasn't sure if this was expected behavior. I'm still in warranty with the transmission and engine so if there is an issue it would be worth getting resolved.
Thanks everyone in advance for your responses.

The trans shifting is likely ok but different from what you are used to. I use the M shift most often, much better when I choose my gears. You could disconnect the batteries for ten minutes or so to force the transmission to reset and begin it's "learning" for your driving style.
New to diesels? You describe turbo lag. Diesel motors, even with a turbo, don't respond like gas engines. They respond to fuel input much slower. What you describe is normal. It takes a moment for the engine to spool up. Part of this issue is normal for any turbo diesel, part of this issue is programmed into the engine computer control to help reduce emissions and soot output. There is no throttle cable and your foot is not directly linked to the throttle on the engine. It's a drive by wire system where your foot is simply requesting for more power and the computer decides whether or not you can have it.

Oh, and on the "power delay", try turning off your traction control and enabling tow/haul mode. That will turn off some of those electronic interferences. See how the truck behaves then.
Lastly......

Sounds like torque converter lock-up to me, perfectly normal.....

The lack of response is because you called the pedal a "gas pedal". Your truck knew you were referring to the go juice pedal as a gas pedal and therefore was stymying your ability to move forward because as a diesel powered mighty torque monster powered by, yes, diesel, it simply was bucking your use of the word...gas. And don't ever tell it you're going to go get some gas.... Your truck will squeal to a stop.
Ok, fine, call it turbo lag....
And congrats on your new truck and welcome to FTE.
