What's this on my transmission?

My 49 F1 has the 4 speed tranny and I noticed this yesterday. It moves around and seems a bit out of place. Anyone know what it is?

It's a drain hole for any oil that "might" get past the rear seal. The cotter pin vibrates around and keeps the hole open.

Got it, thanks! Also, I'm looking to change the tranny fluid and assume the top plug in the picture is the fill and bottom is the drain. Do I just fill the top hole until it pours out or do I fill it shrt by a certain amount? Thanks,

The 4 speed crash box tranny gets 5 pints of fluid. This is for a dry transmission.

The 4 speed synchro gets 8 pints. This is also for a dry transmission.
