My truck is dog walking down the road. WTH is going on?

I have a 2002 7.3l super duty and I was told by a friend driving behind me that my truck is dog walking with the passenger side front pointing toward the ditch. I have also noticed that it is sagging or leaning a good 2" or so on the driver side. I drove behind it the other day and confirmed what he said and now that I noticed it I can kind of feel it while driving. I looked it over and the driver side rear axle looks cocked a bit and I can see the passenger side rear tire is wearing worse in the middle then the others. I also notice that when I turn right it's almost like having 4 wheel steering if that makes sense. The rear just kind of swings out with the turn. Does anyone have any idea of what the heck is going on?

Front suspension lift without adjustment for the track bar?

Centering pin for leaf spring in the rear broken with U-bolts loosened?

I don't know if it has as I bought it used from a dealership. I did notice a hump or crease running front to back under the carpet on the driver side floor. I can see a little bit of a dent on the driver side firewall low down near the fender. I cant see any damage from underneath as its looks like the hump is right above the frame rail.

"I don't know if it has as I bought it used from a dealership."

I would bring it to their attention and mention something about full disclosure and see what they say.

I bought it about a year ago so I doubt the dealer will help out any. I don't drive it much so I never really noticed these issues until it was brought to my attention.

I would still mention it to them. Have you found any receipts or inspection records that show a mileage discrepancy? Get a record check from your state DMV and from Car Fax. You never know, you may end up with some extra cash to repair the truck if it has been wrecked/salvaged and they did not tell you about it at the new car dealership.

nothing on mileage but I guess I need to get a car fax. I thought this was a reputable dealer and they are pretty big but I guess you can't trust anyone these days.

Car Fax does not get any information from many small shops and the larger ones are suppose to report repair and insurance co.'s for some payouts but it is not a perfect process.

Sounds like the centering pin on the spring pack is broke letting the axle shift, you also say the truck is setting lower on one side so the spring may be broke.

I'm just dealing with the same issue. Rear end tracks off to the right about 5". Found out I broke the front side of the passenger rear main leaf. Made the axle shift back 1". Luckily I have the air bags as well to support the weight. Gives me the excuse now for a lift. Heheh. That's what I tell the wife now anyway.

I'm betting that the truck was T boned. Take it to an alignment shop and see if the frame is straight.

It sounds like it was in a wreck. I don't think it's legal to sell a truck without revealing that even though it is sold as is. I would look into it because YOU may never be able to sell it. Have someone drive it while you ride behind it to see how badly it is dog tracking.

In California perhaps, but certainly not in a lot of places. That's something that is regulated by state law. And considering California actually has a bureau to regulate auto repair facilities, that doesn't surprise me.
