Hi, I have a 2005 F150 4x4 with the Lariat package. It is a crew cab. I'm wanting to purchase new shocks for the truck, however I am having trouble with the front shocks. From what I can see there are 2 types listed. one is for premium off-road package and the other is for dual front shocks. What is confusing me is that my truck is not an FX4 nor does it say "off road" under the 4x4 emblem on the bed, however I only have one shock on each side of the front axle. The Ford dealership looked up my VIN and told me I had the dual front shocks, but I don't get it. Are they a special double acting type, and that's what is meant by dual front shocks? Or am I missing something. Thanks.

 

I think your local dealer parts guy is just stupider than me with a computer. My old '92 had dual shocks on the front, but that was the last F-150 generation that offered them.

Do your own internet research, and you'll find several options for front shocks. I wanted the adjustable damping so I bought the Rancho 9000s. Others like Bilstein, Monroe, and others. You can replace just the strut, or get quick struts, which are pre-assembled coilover spring and strut assemblies ready to install, etc, etc.

 

I'd say just pick up a set of OE shocks from somewhere like here. Probably the easiest option as it'll show right up.
