No fuel to the carb.

Hey all,
I've got an 87 with a 460 and a mechanical fuel pump and duel tanks. Yes the pump is bolted to the side of the engine there is no mistaking it. There are no electric fuel pumps in the tanks, and the valve that the fuel tanks go to has 6 fuel lines but is flat not the canister valve. It does not have a single wire it has a 6 or 7 wires.

The problem is Im getting no fuel. When I fill the carb bowl it runs fine, then it dies. I know the valves are infamous from going bad but I dont want to through parts at it until it's fixed.

I can supply pictures if you dont believe me about the fuel pump being manual or you dont know what valve Im talking about.
