My '87 didn't come with a Cat but it does have dual in single 3" out.
3" flows more than enough for a stock(ish) truck.

Sick of buying expensive replacement mufflers (~$300) and crappy crinkle bend tailpipes, I bought a very heavy all welded muffler from Walker (-22822- for an International school bus and a Magnaflow -15003- universal mandrel bent stainless tailpipe)
I had about $150 in it all together. $88+53+flanges

You have a dumptruck.
You could just put a turndown on the muffler...

The C-C measurement of the inlet was right.
I just had to weld flanges to it.
You can cut the flange off your existing converter if you like.
Bill Vose (85lebaront2) did that to his EFI 460.

It has those amber colored plastic fuel lines with an unusual type of quick release couplers that the factory used, and the fuel lines are covered with an insulating material and then aluminum foil. Looks like it should work but it doesn't. And I live in Washington State with usually cool temperatures and even so it vapor locks all the time.

Anyone experience this? How did you solve it?

I also want to toss the catalytic convertor since the truck no longer requires emission testing. I am sure the cat is plugged up (and very expensive) and I would like to replace it with a "test pipe" if I can find one. If not, I will fab one myself. Anyone know of a test pipe available for this vehicle?

Thanks for the help.

Randy

Randy, Likelihood of "vapor lock" in your engine is rather low given its an FI -- rather, you have misbehaving, heat sensitive components elsewhere ..........easiest approach is to buy a low cost IR thermometer and scan your engine compartment (particularly the distr) for "hot spots" --- amazing what this "detective work" will uncover..........

As for the exhaust if you have a 4-bolt plate on your converter simply cut up some 1/4" stock and weld some std exhaust pipe to build your "test pipe".....I use an air compressor driven plasma cutter to do precision cuts on the 1/4" stock then I weld the exhaust pipe, "collector", 1/4" plate together with one of my Miller machines.......

Forget the exhaust it's not restrictive, but DO remove the air horns from the intake tubes. If you don't know what they are do a search for it here.

Does any one know what years the 460 had the air horns?
Did all 460 FI trucks have them before MASS air?
