New ABS unit question. Does the unit have to "break in?"
So in an earlier thread I had both my red brake light and my yellow "rear antilock" lights on in my 1989 F250. Well I took my truck in to a mechanic and as it turned out the ABS unit (module) was out. So $383 later it was replaced. When I got the truck back, it seemed to brake differently, it took a tad more pressure to apply the brakes but they didn't lock up anymore and it was fine. Well, earlier today I was tinkering with some rubber transmission cooler lines and didn't have one on tight enough. It spewed fluid all over the engine bay. So I fixed the hose and cleaned the engine up. When I took it back out on the road, the lights weren't on, and when I mashed the brakes the wheels were not locking up, but under normal braking the brakes seemed to have "tightened up" so to speak. The felt like they did before the repair was done. Like I said my wheels aren't locking up, and the antilock works perfectly. I have no clue were this unit is, I assume on the rear, but is this just a coincidence of my new ABS unit breaking in or did that trans fluid do something to mess with/screw up my brand new unit?

as far as the situation, the unit for ABS is not messed up, the unit its self is located behind your glove box (should see a black module) if you pop out the glove box (carefully)
as far as the other part of your question I will deferr this to the other more experienced folks to answer but I wouldn't think it needs any type of break in unless your breaks were redone in which you would have to bleed the break lines and properly fill the res in the engine bay...
