How to remove heater control panel?

I have a 1988 F-450 and both cables that control cab heat temperature and defrost are either seized or broken (no A/C). How do I remove the plastic panel that holds these controls? I need to replace the cables but I don't see any screws attaching the panel and I don't want to just start prying on it. Thanks for the help.

If it's like mine, there's a bezel around the heater controls and the radio. Just pull on that with your fingers/use a screwdriver and it should pop right off.
Once that's off, it's held in with 4 combo torx/hex-drive screws.

Thanks Macrobb. I thought it was simple but I did not want to head into it and break expensive plastic. Interesting that one guy out of 51 could provide an answer. What do you other guys do in your spare time, wax your trucks? :-)

Depending on your year, you may be able to use an upgraded cable. The 95 year switched the design of the temp select cable to be more durable. I just did this change on my 92 and seems to work great. From a 95 (I think up to 97) you would need the heater control panel and the cable (I think that is all). You would just remove the older parts and replace with the newer parts. Easy but does take some time. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l#post14299385
