Opinions on mufflers
My rig is a 75 ford f100 390 that was converted from a 360. Edelbrock performer intake with 75 0 holley vaccum secondary's. Edelbrock performer plus cam. I got the stock manifolds on there right now with duals that have some random mufflers on there and then turn downs right before the axles . I want to get a set of good soundin mufflers that lets the 390 be heard. I ain't to crazy about glasspacks. But let me know what y'all think I'd appreciate it.

I spent most of my life running race cars mostly drag racing. With people moving out towards the tracks and complaining about a track they knew about before ever moving and lawyers winning the fight we had to start running mufflers.
Somebody with money and too much time got the 20 most popular mufflers together and rated them by decibel reduction and HP loss. Oddly enough flow masters scored one of the worst for HP loss. Borlas xs muffler had the least about of loss and had the lowest decibel rating of any other high performance muffler. Only real downside is they are expensive. I ran them on my 650hp 454 big block for years and I put them on everything I own. Quietest car on the track. Sounds great too.

When I bought my truck it flowmaster 40's with the exhaust exiting out the side of the bed on each side. While it did sound cool it got annoying after a while. I guess I'm getting old, I redid the exhaust to exit the rear of the truck and that helped a ton. Now I can actually hear the radio!

X2 on the Moroso mufflers.
I liked the sound of the Heartthrob glasspack I had on my built 460. Single 4x36" bodied muffler, stock mani's and 2-1 with 2.5" pipe and turnout before cab. Not too loud in the cab, and didn't drone. Same muffler I have on my 300, and still sounds good.
To me, flowmasters sound "hollow". I've never been a fan of them.

also just switched from flow master super short race muffler the thing is like 10 inches long maybe to magnaflow round 24in long . both 3 inch in and out and it is considerably quitter which is what I was after. if I rev it it barks unlike before it was just really loud then really really loud revved. I wanted a nice sound and less trashy hillbilly sound.
no offense to anyone out there about trashy hillbilly comment, just around here in n east ohio a lot of white trash think they are they next dale jr because there 95 chevy has straight pipe and no cats. its annoying.
