injector question??

first off hello to everyone. i just bought my first ford.1998 F250 4x4 5.4 engine.
ok well the guy i picked up the truck from, said that the truck sat for 3 years. he took it to the shop cause it ran rough. shop puts plugs in it and informs that the injectors are going bad.maybe im just lucky cause ive never had to deal with injectors. so i thought id ask yall how often do injectors go bad. truck does throw a P0304 and a P0455 codes. How can you tell what is misfiring? i was really thinking about just going and doing injectors coils and plugs all brand new.

WELCOME to FTE.
The 304 code is a #4 cylinder misfire not sure of the 455 you can look it up. First thing I would do is dump a can of Seafoam in the gas tank & run it & see if it clears anything up after driving it a while. Seafoam will clean the injectors.
I've never had an injector go bad on me. But I guess they can. But if this truck sat drive it & see if any of this clears up with use. Check on the PO455 code.

If a vehicle has been sitting for three years the fuel tank must be cleaned and new fuel added before using the starter on a fuel injected engine. You may be able to take the injectors to an injection shop and have them cleaned and tested. Replace fuelish filter and flush fuel rail before starting with clean injectors.

je5, yes thats what i would have done for sure, but unfortunately thats not what the PO did he just fired her up.so i think im just gonna go get new injectors coils and plugs. start over from scratch so i know everything is new and working properly. dont really want the headache of fixing one then have another go bad and have to pull everything apart to do it over. i have already ordered my MSD coil packs . on friday ill get injectors. can anyone recommend injectors ? stock or aftermarket ? been looking at the bosch GEN III injectors. say they have better atomization witch results in better fuel mileage and performance. my buddy told me he has some 21lb injectors but i thought stock injectors were 19lb will this make a difference ?

I prefer those parts be factory for reliability.

Make sure fuel system is clean so it will not contaminate your new injectors.

je5 and kermmydog thanks for all your advice ill post back with results.

je5 i know what your talking about with factory parts as most are far superior. with all the posts about COP failure im not really seeing the factory reliability here. im not trying to be a jerk by that statement just talking.ive always had good results with MSD products, so my choice kinda lies in that direction. as for injectors? ill see what i can drum up ?? ive always been the one to play with things this is just my first ford ive ever had in my 25 years of driving
