How to pull off '92 - '96 Windshield moldings?
I need to pull off the windshield moldings some time, so I can get the cowl panel off. I suspect a slow rain leak is coming from under there. How do I get those moldings off without bending or breaking them? And how do I re-install them?
The shop manual's useless on that.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-May-02 AT 07:35 PM (EST)]I actually had my rear window replaced. A little accident i had with a drill..long story..anyway the guy that came to install the new glass walked up to my truck and pushed from the inside and it popped right out..this seems like the way to get it out, a little pressure on the corner from the inside. As for the window molding..id say replace it while the glass is out....its not too much $$ hope this helps (PS DONT BREAK YOUR REAR SLIDING WINDOW, THE WHOLE BACK WINDOW HAS TO BE REPLACED AS ONE COST ME $225) GOOD LUCK -Don

If you're talking about the chrome trim moldings around the front windshield, I pulled mine off this weekend to fix a minor leak on my 95. I just used a small and wide prybar to very gently shimmy the pieces loose. They are held on by small metal clips that clip to the body, be careful because some may come loose and if you're not paying attention they like to run away. If any come off, look at one that is properly clipped to see what direction they go, and for me a careful rap with a hammer snapped them back onto the body. As long as you feel around and pry near to the clips, the moldings come off pretty easy, it was a pleasant surprise for me. A solid hit with a hand or rubber mallet pops them back into place. Hope this helps.
