Battery hold down tray on driver's side. 2011

Whose bright idea was it to have the damn tray attached to the puke tank making it impossible to remove by itself?

What am I doing wrong?

I'm replacing my batteries and one of the hold down bolts slipped down off the tray underneath it somewhere. I removed all the bolts holding in the tray and find that it is attached to the puke tank?! (Coolant reservoir for you younger folk).

How the heck to I get to that bolt?

Well that's a bummer.

I'll take a look tomorrow. I'm approaching four years on my truck so batteries aren't too far off for me either.

BTW, welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome.

I already have about 90k miles on my truck as I do drive a lot and I've been having battery drain issues even after cleaning the posts and such.

I usually end up putting platinum batteries in my trucks and never look at them again.

I DID manage to get the bolt out. It had landed on the inner wheel well and as I ran my hand around it from underneath it fell to the ground!

Bizarre that the puke tank is connected to the tray still though.

Right on! Glad you got it. But, I'm still going to have to look anyway. It's like driving by a car wreck and not looking. I have to.

I'm only at 45k miles on my 2011. About 15k of it is towing my 5er. Hopefully this truck will last me 21 years like my '78 F250 did.

There is an ask a ford engineer thread here... Might want to ask that question in that thread.
