Question 9" swap

I have an 86 F150 4x4 with a leaky 9" rearend that is making noise. I am either going to have to rebuild the 9" and as I understand it can be a pain or replace it. Some of these trucks came with 8.8 and all of the newer ones have them. Has anyone swapped a 9" for a newer 8.8? I like the idea of possibly getting rear disk brakes too.

I have a 77 w/ 9" rear. The 9" is pretty simple. You can get center section dropouts all setup and ready to go.Disc brake conversions are also available for about $400.I'd stick w/ the 9".

Thanks Big E, but I can get a low mileage 8.8 with the factory disk setup for $350. Plus it already has the 3.50 gears same as I am running in the front.
