I need more power!

Is there anything I can do to my 7.3 powerstroke to get more horsepower out of it without a programmer?

A chip is a much better route than a programmer. Programmers have been known to fry computers in these trucks. Intake/exhaust and 10k mod should give yiu a little seat of the pants upgrade. Best bet is to get gauges, intake, exhaust and a chip.

What Todd says is a good start but it will only make you want more. Then you will have to have injectors, bigger turbo, build trans etc. etc. Its called PMS, powerstroke modification syndrome!

If it was me, I would not waste my time with the 10k mod. Get a chip and be done with it.

Like a TS chip (total performance), its a printed circuit board that will plug in the back of your PCM (computer). Its behind the emergency brake pedal.

What mods do you have now ?

I'd start with making sure the truck is running in perfect running condition.
The do a 6637 intake(can be done for 30 bucks) the a 3" down pipe(100 bucks and a few hours) and remove the cat. That'll give it a little ump

I agree with an intake and exhaust. Make sure you don;t have any exhaust leaks around the manifolds and up pipes. (those are the pipes that go from the manifolds to the back of the turbo.) A chip will help a lot, but like the guys already said, do the intake and exhaust first. You likely won't notice much difference, if any, after doing those mods, but they will enable the chip do to more. Gauges are very nice, but I ran my 97 without them. I did not have a very aggressive tune in my truck (work truck) but it did liven it up. Aggressive tunes=gauges a necessity.

I also suggest gutting the Exhaust Back Pressure Valve (EBPV). That'll free up the exhaust flow, and its really easy to do while changing the Down Pipe. Also, if you don't want to do a chip, switching to a smaller turbine housing on the turbo is a good idea. I did that to my 96.

All i have now is 4 in. Downpipe with 5 inch exhaust. I also have gauges but thats it. I want to get a ts 6 position chip for it.. my buddy wanted to sell one to me for 175 bucks. I was just wondering Wat else I could do? There is no way to give it more fuel without the tuner?

What year is your truck? It must be a SD if you have a 4" down pipe......or you did some tunneling of the floor to get it in there if it's an OBS.
