1968 ford f100 v6 wont start high pitching sound
As the post says. Im working on checking all the easy problems on getting this truck started. I am using a almost new battery that did sit through cold. working on charging it now. but i initially used a battery charger with engine start on to see if it'll start going.
from this i got the lights on etc, but when i had the battery charger on and each time i turned the ignition. the e brake light turned on. and the sound was extremely loud and high pitched. no cranking, just a really loud sound. sort of like a amplified version of the battery charger but extremely loud. hard to describe without recording it.
just curious atm if any one knows why its doing that. tomorrow when i have more light i'll work on making sure everythings clean and that it's fully charged where i get the headlights on without the battery charger.

Charge up the battery with the charger, and then hook that up tomorrow sometime. In the meantime take a wirebrush to all the cable connections, frame and block, firewall. Sounds like your charger was choking on the start demands don't know why, but don't do that again. It should settle down with a battery in it hopefully.

^ that's what caught my attention when I read the title. Did you mean straight 6 or do you have a mystery engine swapped in? Tedster is right on the charger don't try it again until you have a actual battery. No idea what could make your truck make that sound but I'd play it safe don't want to melt or burn anything else up to add to the list of troubles. Definitely go around and clean the grounds and battery terminals. Also pull your starter solenoid off and make sure the posts are clean. along with getting a good grounding to the truck when bolted down.

so this is where i am at right now. cleaned everything up. allowed it to charge for awhile but not overnight. didnt think i had to do it a whole day with a new battery thats been in the cold, 1 season. as for the truck. its a 240/300 stock v6, not a swap. no electric fuel pump. the sound didnt sound like it was coming from the starter. i have a 70 challenger as well. I know a lil bit but not a ton. didnt sound normal from what im use to. after charging the battery for 6 hrs, n cleaning it. the lights came on then went back off. i'll try a longer charge. then i can check the starter system. i mean the sound was just a tad lower then a horn sound.

First you ought to take the battery back to where you bought it. Have them check it to be good and warranty it if necessary. When you bring a good battery back to the truck watch for a spark as you mount the second battery cable on the battery post. It's not supposed to. You may have a direct short someplace.

Also a weak or shorted cell may also have bubble when put under a load=turn on lights.
The acid may also have a grayish look to it if it's shorted too.
