I have seen only one lobe wiped out many times ! Zink break in and proper procedure helps . A bad Cam can loose a lobe from improper manufacture . Who knows .... Proper break in procedure must be followed !
Do some inspecting first ... If you have a loose push rod , something is not correct . A wiped out lobe is possible , but inspect all of the valvetrain components to be sure no other issue is present .
Already tore it down. Pulled the suspected brand new lifter. Replaced it with the best of the worst lifter from before. Ran great cold and loaded. Hot and loaded no good. So inspect the valve train. Could I have too much lash in my push rod? And what is the obvious correct way to do your valve lash?
I just remembered something about the intake on my Mustang. Make sure that the pushrod has plenty of clearance where it goes through the intake manifold. I had clearance issues with pushrods and had to clearance the intake with a dremel bit.
When you check the intake for pushrod clearance, cycle then motor around at least one cycle to see the intake clearance from valve open to valve closed.
