Good machine shop in Charlotte area?
I searched, but could not find much. I just pulled my 400 from my '77 Supercab and am looking for a good, reasonably priced shop to take it to for block work. I need the full treatment, decked, align honed, hot tanked, Magnafluxed, honed, bored, valve job, etc. and want to have it rebuilt to long block (block and heads assembled). I've called Carolina's Auto Machine, but they want to charge $650 just to assemble to long block. Two years ago, I had a mechanic in Statesville pull my engine and completely assemble and reinstall, timing, everything to get running again, for $600, so $650 sounds high. I won't go back to the last guy because it took them three months. Any suggestions? BTW, the machine work looks like it will come out to around $550 for everything except any head work. That is pretty reasonable I feel.
Also, does anyone know of someone good to have my heads ported and polished? Thanks for the help.
