The problem is with a 1992 Areostar with the 3.0. Will not start without a shot of either when cold. When it runs the check engine light is on about 1 minute and then a loud swoosh from the air breather/maf sensor at the breather end of the intake duct and the check engine light goes out and it goes to a low and rough idle.
New fuel pump,wires,plugs,cap and rotor.
Any ideas. The lady that owns the van has to have it to go to therapy and can't afford to take it to a shop. I live 100 miles away but I am trying to help the best I can.

My first suggestion is to pull the codes on it.

 

Put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the feul tank to clean out the feul system.

Replace the air filter

 

Used Seafoam and replaced the fuel filter. Thanks for the replies
