im getting ready to order the 460 highboy kit from l&l,sorta struggling deciding with exhust hidden in frame or exhaust running on outside of frame.I will be using the borgenson shaft with a 4" lift,,,,dont want any hassels with my steering shaft,,,,what do you all think?before I finalize thanks in advance for all input,I value also running 37 x 12.5 rubbing factor?

If the truck is lifted, I think it's cool to have the exhaust tucked into the frame. Makes it look cleaner.

I know what you mean.sorta feel the same way,but it would sure make things easier on exterior,,,anybody have any pics?

I have the L&L outside frame headers (460, f250, 6" lift, 4x4). Haven't finished the exhaust yet but it's basically a straight shot down the frame and dump in front of the rear tires. With a couple bends, I'm hoping to be able to tuck it up close the the bottom of the cab so it isn't as noticeable. Outside saves a bunch of hassle and expense on the exhaust. Also clears up the starter area on the pass side and clutch linkage, brake proportioning valve, fuel lines etc. on the drivers side. I have the Borgeson also and not interference issues. Did have some "fitting" to do at the front cab corner supports to let the headers clear.

I used the fender well headers on my 79. They did hit the cab mount on frame, I have a 1 1/4 custom body lift. the exhaust was super simple. One offset bend to keep muffler high and out of sight. supper 40's and "pypes exhaust " dumps.

I don't have it totally done yet but lots of pictures along the way that will give you the right idea. I have 18" Magnaflow mufflers on there now. Once I get to the exhaust I have a 4' section of SS to go from the collector to the muffler and then a 2' piece to bend at 45 or so to dump in front of the rear wheel.

Awesome shots PA250 thank you for the detail.

lafermedavid here is an idea of what inside the frame will get you. Along with a free headache and a exhaust guy that hates you.

Yes one pic is a 2wd, but you get my point about the cross member right?

Fenderwell exit headers make life more better and finishing the exhaust is way easier and can ever be completed by yourself.

The last 2 pics show it like it is, fenderwell exit headers, straight pipe, chrome tips and wire pipe hangers. (look at that quality double wire lacing and x pattern) lol

Are you referring to the ones up front by the shock towers etc.? Those are access holes for mice to build homes in.

Seriously though, I wouldn't know they shouldn't be there. This is my first truck of this model and first rebuild. I bought the restoration project from another guy after he had already done the frame. I think it started life as a 2wd so maybe something to do with that. Something I should be fixing? Especially since I just got it painted and all. lol.

I have to say that stainless fender well exit headers look pretty darn good to me!

77&79- Did you notice a difference after putting on the X-pipe? I have read that some engines(low end torque) don't respond well to them.

Hey it's running and it works.
It just surprised me as I just finished a front end install and it's quite a bit different.
Interesting that they are behind the tower on one side and in front on the other.
I'm sure it's fine.
Easy on the jumps though.

Those holes are common F250 front end access, I do believe, all 4 of mine have them....

The 1st pic I attached has them too.

X pipe was only a pic I saved to show inside the frame exit headers and crossmember issues, its not mine.
