4.6 swap to a 5.4??

hey guys,

Ok my 97' needs a new engine, running on 5 cylinders out of a possible 8 (4.6). i do a lot of pulling and hauling with this truck and the 4.6 would be what you could call.....adequete. i'm always looking for more power, so, i was wondering if it is possible to swap the bigger more powerful 5.4 into this chasiss. its got the 5spd tranny, original 4.6, 4x4, and its an f-250 light duty (if that makes any difference). If so, what exactly needs to be done, i plan on having a mechanic do the job but i still need to know what is all involved in the swap. any info would be geat, thanks!

Try to repair the 4.6. Most likely it will be the coils. I had the same problem. Look for parts on ebay or newspapers. The 5,4 should bolt up since these engines are "modular". I doubt you will find a remanufactured anywhere without paying a arm and a leg. Get it running right and trade it in or take it in as is.
