1961-1966 radio faceplate removal?

I am helping a friend to install an original radio in his truck. We can't figure out how to get the face plate off. We removed the ***** and two outside screws, do we just pull it off? It seems tight, or do we remove the little c-clip too? Don't want to wreak it.

Sorry, I don't remember about the C clips but the tuning shaft has be in an exact position. It has parts inside I believe are washers, maybe part of the clutch system with a flat side, that flat side has to be in the right position to clear other parts for the face plate to come off. I know it sounds crazy but when you get it off it will be more clear. It was one of the stupidest designs I have ever seen for a radio.

Notice how the original AM radio is installed in the dash. The chassis is installed behind the dash, the face plate is installed in front of the dash.

The left (off/on/volume) shaft of the chassis pokes thru the dash, thru the mounting plate and face plate. Two screws retain face plate to dash, ***** are then placed on the shafts.

Whatever you do, do not remove the c clip!!!!!!! The shaft on the right side comes out with the face plate. First you should move the tuner needle all the way to the left so if you move the needle while disassembled you will know where It needs to be on reassembly, next remove the 2 phillips screws you are seeing. After the screws are removed grab the right shaft with pliers and gently pull on the shaft while pulling on the face plate, this does take some effort. The right shaft comes out with the face plate, Once you get it off you will see and know why. You do not want to have to restring this thing!!!!!!. After you get the face plate off the rest is pretty much straight forward.

X2 I have removed many this way. My opinion this is the best way to remove the radio face. Re-installing this, is to reverse the procedure.
