Help with leaky block heater freeze plug! 94 f350 with 460

Replaced cap/rotor/wires/plugs on my 94 F350 the other day, and was letting it idle for a couple minutes before I took it for a drive, when my son noticed a leak underneath the truck. Got under and looked, it was anti-freeze coming from the block heater plug on the passenger side of the block. Further investigation showed the driver side plug had already been replaced, so I am guessing this leak happened before (only had the truck two months). Any ideas for getting this plug out? I'm not worried about the block heater, hadn't previously used it, more worried about not puking out all my coolant. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried tightening the block heater? Should be a bolt going through it that snugs it up. Or is the oring gone? I'd try that first before replacing it

Unless it's in a spot that you can have good access to and are able to swing a hammer, I'd just put another block heater in the and be done with it. Less hassle to turn a ratchet than swing a hammer with a frost plug tool, just my 2 cents

I have the replacement plug already just wondering if anyone knows a trick to getting the block heater plug out. I can't get it to budge, even with backing the bolt out.

Just another plug to see if anyone has ideas for getting a stuck block heater plug out of a 460 in a 94 F350

Got it out, gripped the edge with vice grips and gave it a good yank. The retainer on the back was split, thus not allowing for a good seal. Regular freeze plug back in it, got it filled back up and got it good and warmed up, no leaks. Problem solved!
$40 for the plug + antifreeze, and she runs like she ever did. Wonder how much a shop would've charged? $300+?
