1948 Ford Panel truck info needed

Hello,I have purchased a 1948 Ford Panel truck with out the front frame section and no ID on the firewall or glove box.
The questions is the rear end is the stock rear and it looks to be heavy duty with 18 leafs on each side. The truck came from the factory all red and is now a washed out yellow and it has a Texas tag issued in 1968.
It does not have the F1 emblems on the side and no hole where one would have been mounted.
It has the dual wipers and chrome trim around the windshield and what appears to be a perfect circle and 3 holes around the circle for what could have been a whip antenna on the drivers side.
I was wondering if this could have been a fire dept truck at one time?
New guy trying to figure stuff out.
Thanks

First, DO NOT put a nother minute of time or dollar into that truck until you contact your state DMV to find out if and what you can do to obtain a title. Without the front frame section with the stamped in serial # you legally don't own a truck, only a pile of parts. Every state has their own process to deal with this, but DON'T take anyone's word for it or expect it to be a logical or reasonable process, and especially DON'T try to circumvent the process! At best it could cost you the truck (the state can confiscate it without compensation) or at worse it could cost you a large fine and/or jail time. You could easily end up with an expensive lawn ornament.

AX is right, get a clear title before spending a bunch of money.

What does the cowl stamp say? Often they are hard to read. Mine looked like it was stamped by dyslexic gorillas.
