2001 fuel fill up issue

so lately i am having issue when filling up. 2001 limited explorer with 133k miles. i am unable to squeeze the trigger to let it "self fill" without it clicking off constantly. when i barely squeeze the trigger it trips itself too making fill ups painfully slow. what could be the issue? i tried different pumps and stations and it is all of them...... thanks

That's some mighty low mileage there.
It sounds like a blockage/kinking in a vapor line. Look for any hose coming off the fuel inlet large hose. Vapors go to the charcoal cannister under the hood. That hose probably has an issue.

the fuel lines going into the tank are suspect. That fuel fill tends to rust and cause problems.

I replaced it on our 98 mountaineer. It (for my model) is a one piece unit. So pricy.

It contains the fuel fill tube and the return/vapor all in one.

Mine was bad enough you couldn't fill it as you described then it starting leaking as you fuel up as well.
