Removing those door handles with the wire clip doesn't require a special too. I learned from an old timer boss that all you need is a shop rag. Just take hold of two corners on the same side of the rag, slide between the door handle and the door pull gently towards the handle shaft, then bring the corners of the shop rag towards each other on the opposite side of the handle at about a 30 degree angle, then slide in one direction. The rag will grab one of the ears on the clip and pop it right out. Works every time.

Problem, I bought the tool since I could not find mine but the clips do not have the ears sticking out

Sometimes the handles are frozen to the shafts. You can push the clips out with a small Flathead screwdriver. Don’t worry about damaging the clip, their cheap.

Those cheap little orange handled pick/hooks they sell at HF work good when the clips were installed backwards before. Still a bitch though...

I've had success with a small screwdriver and a pick. But the rag thing sounds interesting. I might try it next time.

I cut a hook into the end of a hacksaw blade with a small cut off wheel. Then put the blade in the handle slot with the hook past the open end of the clip. Then pulled the hook back through to rake the clip off.
