Question 2014 F 250 6.2 L no fuel mileage

I bought a new 2014 F-250 regular cab, 4x4 6.2L and never got much fuel mileage from day 1. It started off around 12 MPG average but the more I drive it the less it gets. Towing ,non towing, ac on or off, highway or city it doesn't matter.Smooth slow driving doesnt make any difference. It dropped to around 8.8 then to the 7 's and yesterday it was reading 5.9 area . Took to dealer today still waiting to hear back. They don't seem to think there is a problem. I think there is a serious problem. I can compare the mileage to my 2003 F-350 5.4 with 285-75-16 tires 4x4 it gets around 15-16. Anyone have any suggestions? Ive spent over 400.00 in fuel to drive the first 800 miles. I bought a new truck to get reliability and better fuel economy but what i got was no mileage and trips to the dealer for repairs. (not the first problem had a electrical problem with interior light) .

Sorry no suggestions but I too think you got a problem. I have a 2014 F350 super cab 4x4 6.2L with 4.30 axles and have been happy with the MPG. 1300 on the odometer and solo get 13 -14 most times and pulling a dump trailer in metro area have averaged 10+ on the one and only fillup since start of towing at a thousand miles.

Is this using the lie o meter or hand calculated? if hand calculated, then you have a lead foot or a problem. Most have said the mileage gets better with miles. With about 1500 miles, my lie o meter is showing 12.5.

Were still running the last of the winter gas up here and im seeing 11.8 hand calculated vs the lie-o-meter says 11.2.
The mileage will improve over the first 5,000 miles, you need to drive it! mine has 12,000 miles on it and the mileage in the summer is 12-14 avg. Im happy with my MPG, If I was looking for good fuel mileage I would have gotten the 6.7

You bought an 8,000 pound truck, they are built to work and tow not cruise around town.

Still 8mpg is pretty low, are you hand calculating or using the lie-o-meter?

@ 10,000mi. my lie o meter says 13.2.
Bought new in Sept 13, towed 5th wheel twice and winter warm ups included.
I get an honest 14.2 around town, 16 highway.

I found out this winter that when you remote start the truck, the trucks calculations do not include any fuel used when the key is not turned on.
It does make a big difference. Other than that mine has been very close.

I run a lawncare business, so ive had many and many trucks and I do know how to drive it to get the best mileage. No lead foot no high speeds and yes im actually getting the readings that the meter is showing. Truck has been in the shop all day heard nothing back today. All the research ive done shows almost 2 x better fuel mileage than i am getting.

I'd say you've been looking at fantasy wishes instead of facts. For in town/suburban driving while towing a trailer, your mileage sounds correct.

My question is what rearend do you have. Intown stop and go with a high geared rearend would likely yeild that mpg vs a higher gear that would make it less work at lower city driving speeds

I have 4.30 gears and I avg as above 11.8-13 with 700 pounds of aftermarket bumpers and 285 tires. When I tow my car trailer I get 8-9 mpg around town.

its been determined thats its a bad fuel issue. and in fact I did do a refill at a station that I do not normally go to and in the past that chain has had issues with fuel quality. or better stated putting incorrect fuel into tanks. ( E-85 into 87 tanks, just happened this week in cleveland as a matter of fact.) So I will try different brands and stations to see if it changes any. Even so doing real world comparison my 2003 F-350 5.4 towing and hauling will go 300 miles on a tank of fuel. Period and for those who dont believe me just stop responding to the posts. My 2014 F-250 will maybe get 270 miles on a tank, lighter newer truck unloaded and not towing .with advertised 15 % increase in fuel efficiency. Im sorry but its just not true.even with good fuel I cannot see it ever 2 x the mileage it gets now. Thanks to those who wanted to offer actual help and screw off to all those who just come online to **** with people.

3:73 gears, goodyear wranglers with kevlar tires and I also run them at 80 psi. I do everything possible to increase fuel mileage including driving style.

Pretty sure e85 would account for a fair drop in mpg. I drive conservative and seem to average 12-13 unloaded, 8-9 towing 8500 lbs. I can get up to 14.5 highway only, and clocked a whopping 15.7 mpg on a 120 mile round trip recently on 50 mph country roads. I am starting to see that wind resistance plays a big factor.
