hutch mod c/w now sucking air
after doing the hutch mod and installing the clear wix inline prefilter i'm seeing bubbles inside the filter. I don't have any leaks, is it possible to be sucking air into the 3/8" fuel line hose and it not be leaking?
It was my understanding that the bubbles in that little filter indicated that I had air entrapped in the fuel supply being sucked in from somewhere.
I followed guzzles instructions exactly how he has it on his site.

I had problems when I did mine with that. It was due to the filter I was using, It wasn't rated for suction. It would slowly suck more and more air till the fuel pump wasn't pulling any fuel and the truck would stall.
Check all your connections and see if you can put a gauge on your fuel pressure to watch it. First sign that something is wrong will be the fuel pressure dropping.

Beside those good places mentioned, check the new hose connecting your tank to the filter, then from your filter to the inlet of the pump. Guzler's write-up suggest using 3/8 hose which is WAY to big. You should use 1/4 to connect the filter to the pump and 5/16 for tank to filter. Imagining clamping the 3/8 hose to a 1/4 bulb fitting which is on the pump! Erwin

Is the tank more than 1/3 or so full, or at least enough to be above the compression fittings in the tank? If it is, you can at least rule that out.
EDIT: Are there bubbles entering the filter constantly, or is there just some air trapped in there? If it's just a trapped air bubble, you can safely ignore it.

For Eductaion purposes, did you buy kit like Strickly Diesel puts together, or did you go it alone as in Bob's write-up?
I'm looking to complete this Mod soon, so this feedback is very helpful.

On the three clear Wix filters I tried, none of them would ever stop sucking air. I went with a large filter head and screw on canister filter instead (costs more, but has TONS more surface area for filtration and I can easily run more than 20K miles between filter element changes.

Yes, there was over 1/2 tank of fuel. I'll have to double check to make sure it doesn't look like trapped air in there.
