Starting my crown civ swap!
Just like it saysi picked a 2006 crown Vic late tonight and I'll be posting here my swap! I have been on this forum a long time with long pauses in between but I'm hoping to have some good pictures for you all. My wife does video blogging on youtube so you may see more videos then pictures. I've had a lot of news Lately. We just bought a house 2 months ago, and now my wife has allowed me to spend right around 4500 dollars to make this all happen. Crown Vic swap, modular engine swap, and get the doors and hood painted.
So first question, I need to get a good welder on a budget to make this all happen. Anyone got any suggestions for welders?

Congrats on the house and being able to do some upgrades on the truck.
I would buy a nice lincoln mig 180 or similar, where we are they go for around $500. Or even a lincoln stick welder, check your local craiglist even there must be one kicking around somewhere.
Looking forward to your swap thread.

I am using my Lincoln pro mig 140 for all the welding duties on my crown vic swap, and rear flip kit build. It has enough juice to weld 3/8" plate in a single pass, and can also do bodywork repairs.
I would stick with a wire feed flux core welder. You can make much better welds with less welding experience as compared to a stick welder. I also have a Lincoln AC/DC stick welder, but dont use it unless I want the practice, or have thick metal to weld.

Thanks for the advice guys I have already had a friend recommend the Lincoln 180. I may go with that.
Started disassembly on the Vic last Friday and pulled the engine last night. Just some pics to get this going. Trying to work on it as much as I can but is slow going.
Just some questions, what have you mod motor guys used for gauges? I wanting to use the Vic cluster but I will have to take it apart to disable the air bag light and abs light. I am thinking I may have to keep the evap system as the tuners out there only delete egr systems.
The soon to be sold 390
