1956 F-100 trany. vin is 4SYN. What is it?

I believe it should be a T-98.

4 speed synchronized. Although only 2nd 3rd and 4th have synchros. 1st is a bull low that you may never use unless actually pulling. I always start in 2nd gear as most probably do.

I believe the T-98 are cast into the left/driver side of the case up near the front as well.
