Looking for stock wheels 1953 F100
Hello,
First I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, I have a friend with a 1953 F100 she bought about 20 years ago. The truck is stock except for the wheels, they are ET mags from the 80s. She has a hard time steering the truck because of the fat tires. I suggested she go with the original narrow rims (16x4-1/2 I believe) but am not sure where to find a set. Nothing on ebay, at least not yet. If someone has a lead it would be greatly appreciated (Chattanooga area).
Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe,
Im your neighbor up I-24 about 90 miles. Your friend may not have to go to that narrow of a tire. Does the truck still have the stock steering wheel and is the front suspension in good working order? The stock steering wheel is large for a reason and can provide good leverage providing the truck has a rolling start.

Thanks for the reply Donald,
Yes everything else including the steering wheel is stock (even the original flathead V8 which is really cool).
I have a 1954 Ch... which is also stock but had fat tires on it and it was tough to steer. I found a set of 16x4 steel wheels for it and put reproduction 16X6 Firestone tires on it and now it steers like it has power steering. The small contact patch and higher pressure of the old tires make steering a breeze
Thanks Again,
Joe

Wheel Vintiques has a 16X41/2 wheel listed here. You could use these if you cant find any original wheels.
