2015 F 150 towing stability

Do you think the 2015 F 150 will be a much less efficient tow vehicle as the Super Crew will be 700 lbs lighter? Having a much lighter vehicle might not be the best thing to stabilize tow loads.

All things being equal the SD with it's weight advantage is a much sturdier tow platform even with the 6.2 gasser.

I was just curious what those in the know have to say on the subject.

I'll take a wait-and-see approach on the towing. They have promised to the the real SAE towing spec starting 2015 Model year, so it's very likely that tow rating will go down anyway.

My opinion is that if you are dragging around 11,000 lbs daily, you'd be best served with the Super Duty, but for weekend warriors like me, who tow ten times a year or less, and trailers under 10,000 lbs (sometimes Waaaay under that), the F150 is a great option, and I expect the 2015 model will continue to be fully capable of this duty.

The 2014 Silverado 1500 High Country 4x4 with the 6.2L V-8 has a max tow rating of 11,700 and a GVCWR of 17,700. The truck weighs 5429 as a crew cab with the new long box.

Both the Ram 1500 and GM 1500's are significantly lighter than the F150. I don't think that removing a few pounds will hurt much.

uh...even at 700lbs lighter, these trucks are still heavy. If you tow anything that would cause instability in a F150, get a F250. Its it that hard to understand?
