Sheepskin zappppppppp

New sheepskin seat covers over the OEM cloth on my 2014 Superduty. When I slide out I usually get a ferocious zap, at times it’s very painful. I seem to notice it’s more intense when wearing my poly blend work pants. It’s very dry here in Colorado which I'm sure is a contributor

Anyone got any ideas on how to unzap my setup?

Thanks

Bill

Maybe a static reducing spray? Where did you find sheep skin covers? Last time I saw something like that was like 1991

Personally, Id ditch the sheepskin if its zapping you. You could try grounding to metal on the truck but I wouldnt trust it.

One of the leading causes of gas station fires is static electricity from sliding your bum across a seat like that. Only an issue with gasoline, but what happens is you then discharge when inserting the nozzle and ignite fumes from the tank. Bad joojoo.

Diesel fumes wont ignite from static electricity, but I still wouldnt want to be a loaded charge walking around a gas station haha.

You could try hanging a light chain or wire or something metal from the cab under the truck so that when you stop it touches the road. Not a clue if that actually works but I've seen it suggested many, many times on all the other forums I've been a part of over the years.

Used to do that on tractors running belt drives on the PTO to dissipate the static electricity generated by them (google: Van Der Graaf generator). I wouldn't use it on a truck that see's pavement, especially not for something as silly as your seatcovers zapping you.

My wife uses this stuff on her skirts:
Static Cling - Eliminate Static with Static Guard -Static Guard

You guys are too funny,

I agree with ditching the poly pants. Given time the zap thing should probably go away, never had a problem with the sheepskins in my old F250 and I had it over 20 years. I did try some of those sheets you put in the dryer for static cling. It seemed to reduce it about 70% I'm guessing...
