My 1997 f25 7.3 has 71600 miles on it. beatiful like new truck. It had 64000 miles on it when i bought it ten months ago. It has ran fine, but now when i go to put it in reverse or drive it sometimes dies. And jumps forward or slips. It only done this three times, but now after having the transmission fluid changed, it want go anywhere. What could be the problem?
im not to educated on transmissions but it'll be the E4od, they don't last very long behind the 7.3 (i've seen one go out as soon as 30k after a rebuild, was warrantied tho so no harm no foul)
hopefully its just the torque converter considering the low mileage on it. somebody more knowledgeable than I should respond relatively soon.

This depends a lot on how it was treated by previous owners. My tranny has 280k miles on it. My case seems to be an out-layer though and not the average.
Fluid should be changed every 30-60k miles.
Also, it greatly depends on any upgrades for the motor. the stock E4OD can handle the stock output just fine, but anything more than a downpipe and a 6673 intake and it will suffer (and possibly very quickly).
Thanks guys. Will check back later for replies. I really like this site and look forward to future truck talk. Will have to figure out how to put a picture of my truck on the site. Its a super nice truck.
