Your question was fine, but your thread title was bad. Deleting your post doesn't help the situation.

Your stock 5.0 truck computer won't run an HO engine. I'd just swap the entire engine + harness + computer.

Yes, what LeadHead said. Do not delete posts!! many times, other forum members might have the same issue, and even if you figured it out on your own, we can learn from that. Also, we should make thread titles more issue-centric, ie, include the issue you're having in the title. Instead of "Am I wasting my time?", make the thread title "Engine swap/computer compatibility issue". That way, it is much more searchable and forum freindly. Just my two cents!!!

Fair enough mates, after a bit of researching i realized 5.0's and 5.0HO's are a bit different from one another and that the parts weren't solid swappable parts. However i have decided to take the motor entirely and swap it into my f150. Gonna be a nice little project.
