Steering issue. Truck tryin to kill me

Have an 06 5.4 f250 xlt sd. It is lifted an has 37s. But this prob jus started occurring. I'll be driving an either turn or go around a curve in the road am the steering will start to get stiff than it'll jerk the wheel out if my hand hard to the left, ill correct it than hard to the right. It goes back an forth for a bit than stops. Seriously almost killed me few times. Almost threw me in front of a semi. I noticed the u joint was broke so I replaced it an the ball joints. It still does it. Any suggestions? Any one have this problem before

Hi,

I am going through the same thing right now. Since I have a extended service plan on the truck, I am letting the dealer take a crack at it. Keep an eye on my post for updates. Thanks to Redford for the link to that post.

Please email me with what the dealer finds! I've had this problem for a year. Nothing has fixed it. Whole front end rebuilt!

Nercothread! IIRC, the U joint/ knuckle on the right front, went out. The dealer replaced and it has been fine ever since. Since my truck has a towing control feature, this is what kicked in on me when it happened. Are you sure you don't have death wobble? I know some owner experience this. Myself knock on wood bave not had this issue with my ownership of any of my previous vehicles.

No death wobble thank god. If I got that that be the end of this truck. I am definitely leaning on the u joint at the knuckle. I just hate that this becomes buying and replacing parts til it's fixed since everything on front end isn't cheap. Some days I just want to sell the whole thing and start over but I see new problems arise on the newer trucks as well. Silly for these kinds of things going wrong with only 80k on truck.

Those ujoints can really mess up the steering.. I suppose a bad stabilizer could do something also..Jack up the front turn wheel to the end. lock hub grab wheel and spin.
if the joint is bad it will turn really weird or bind and not turn...if the joint is good it will just turn.

Yep likely the outer front drive shaft ujoints. Install Spicers and put the spicer grease in them at every oil change. Doesn't hurt to lock the hubs in and run with them that way for a day or two per month. Keeps them loose. Check everything out up front while your at it. If your doing the ujoints might as well do what ever else is in question.
