emissions light/bucking under acceleration

New to the forum here. First question is unfortunately not a good one. The f150 im driving which belongs to my father has for some time been making a jerking motion under acceleration. Feels like your riding a bucking bronco down the road. Wanted to get some opinions from others who might have had the same problem. Also the emission light started blinking but never actually stayed on. Without a solid code I cant have it scanned at autozone. wondering if anyone has any ideas on what it might be. Any help is appreciated. For reference the truck has the 5.4 in it.

Standard misfire.

There are hundreds of threads in the forum about them.

Just experienced the EXACT same issue with my 1998 5.4L. Went to amazon, ordered 8 COP's from araparts, installed, and problem fixed.

P.S. Cost was $80.00 delivered for 8. There are some sellers that charge more, some less. I went with a mid range price.

Welcome,

Check Mode$6 with a scanner. A flashing MIL light means severe misfire warning you to not run the engine because it will harm the cat converters.

It may need a tune-up and maybe the COP's but only use Motorcraft parts for this. Inferior parts can cause the ECM computer to fail.
