no turn signals at RV plug "HELP"

I need some help from a friend, I have lost both left and right turn signals at my RV plug. I still have running lights and trailer brakes. I also still have my turn signals on my truck. I can't find which fuse controls them, so any help would be appreciated

His profile says a '99 350.... but not what engine. But that shouldn't matter here.

I'd pull the plug apart and check for corrosion and/or broken wires if you are speaking of the 9 pin connector.

sorry, wrong truck

i have a 2005 crew cab 6.0 diesel. I have checked the plug, it is the large 7 pin RV plug that came from ford with my tow package. No rust or corrosion, which makes me think that it is a fuse??

Look for a 20-amp fuse, #9, in the Battery Junction Block (under-hood power distribution box).

It's the fuse for supplying current to both of the trailer turn-direction relays, also in that block.

The coil for each of those relays is run straight from the truck's lighting circuit, so if the truck's blinkers are working, it's reasonable to assume the relays are also working (at least "clicking"). There's just no current being supplied to the contacts, so there is no current out to the seven-"pin" trailer plug.

Find Fuse #9. Look at Page 222 in your Owner's Manual for fuse locations.

But did that solve it for you? Was that the problem?

You didn't say so in your above post.

for the 7 pin you have to take it apart to really check for dirt, rust or loose connections. the pins are a good visual and sometimes they are dirty and cleaning them might be the problem.

Check those fuses first, that is quick and easy.

One more brake problem

Something to ponder, My trailer brakes work fine when the ***** on the dash are squeezed together, but not when the brake pedal is depressed. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance. Wayne

With the integrated controllers they don't lock up the trailer brakes anymore. They become part of the brake system for the truck.

No braking from the pedal

Scott, Even with the gain set up to 10, the brakes will not work, but squeezing the ***** will lock up the brakes. Wayne

See his post just after your's, #4. He says it's a 2005 PSD.

I don't think either a 250 or 350 would make any difference in his wiring diagrams.

OOPS! - I still think he doesn't understand how the Ford brake controller works. The brake pedal won't even START working until the truck is moving forward about 10-15 MPH.

Old timers disease finally wins

Bud, You're correct that I don't have a clear picture of the workings of the brake system. I didn't realize that you needed the forward momentum to activate the trailer braking system. What happened is that I plugged a trailer into my truck plug that had the brake wire and the ground wire reversed. I assumed that either the EBC or a fuse had blown out. I corrected the problem but the trailer is gone for a couple of days. I will check the brakes when it returns and let you know. Thanks for your time. Wayne Adams
