Ok, I have posted in a couple threads about a low power problem and have been following them to see the problems they are having. Yesterday I bought a scan gauge 2 and put in a bunch of gauges. The truck also seems to roll over quite a bit before starting and today leaving work I didn't think it was going to fire, so we can add hard start to the problems. I have some numbers from my gauge, they are.
FMP 47.5-48 bounces back and forth
ICP 640 went as high as 1560 cranking before start
Drove home to get fluid temps up to get high idle numbers.
High idle was done at 2500 rpm, engine ran ruff and wanted to climb and fall, it was hard to hold at 2500.
I don't have WOT numbers or number with cruise set at 60, if I need them I can get them.
I don't remember what ipr was, thought I wrote it down. Ill pay attention in the morning when I go to work after it has sat overnight. The other thing I forgot about is if I take off hard from a dead stop it will fall flat on it's face and blow blue/white smoke. It wont shift until I let off the pedal. I'll try to get a video of it doing it.
No codes, ICV is 1.3 koeo. This morning IPR hit 57.7 while cranking. It started fine. On the way to work FMP bottomed out at 44.5 once. It is up and down the whole time, usually from 46-48. Never more then 48
What about the ficm power fluctuating from 45.5 to 48? I've read on here that 45 means it's toast.
Guess I'll call the dealer and get an ICP and harness.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to start wrenching on it right after buying it.
Get your ICP problem fixed and check your electrical system, load test the batteries separately ( completely disconnected from one another ) and if you find one bad battery replace them both. The FICM voltage fluctuation could be due to failing batteries and or alternator. The bad thing about these trucks is new owners of used trucks get the brunt of the neglect that the previous owner enjoyed. And neglect usually ends with pretty hefty repair bills, but the good thing is, that once you get everything in order and maintain it properly you will have a very dependable truck.
